Eradicate It, But We Can Reduce It!

While
we all live a proper and luxury life, a lot of our brothers and
sisters are hungry, left on the street, with ruined health and
impossibility for education. Because of that, I alarm the people,
all nations, goverment and non-government organizations for urgent
engagement to help the people who are hungry and poor, because this
help will be significant for saving their lives. One of the
organizations who made really significant moves to solve global
problems is, undoubtedly, the Organizations of United Nations,
including the problem of poverty as one of the eight Millenium
development goals. I strongly believe that United Nations, with
their quaility structures and right-chosen way of functioning, will
really reduce the poverty, as they did it till now. But, it's
obviously that United Nations cannot solve this problem only
by themselves. In this fight everyone who feels powerful to contribute
in the victory should be joined. Because we are all part of one big
family - United Nations.

Poverty
is, undoubtedly, today's most maintained problem. It's very serious
because it comprise children too. I have friends who have faced or
face the problem of poverty everyday, but they are still fighting
with the last bit of their life to overcome the problem and to
enable themselves just a proper conditions for living. Many young
and smart people are forced to refuse education because they just
don't have opportunity to have it. I think that United Nations will help those
young people to realize their dreams and to make possible for them
to develop their brain and talent. We all should give a hand to poor
people, only when we are all kind to help them, the poverty will be
reduced. I strongly believe that, with the help of all organizations
including United Nations and all human people, the poverty will be
eradicated and the next generation of children will know this
problem just as a history. I'm happy because with this website, I
had chance to present the problem of the poverty to the world, and
of course, to alarm the people about poverty, especially child
poverty.

My name is Zoran Dimitrovski, I am 19 years old, student of Economy
at the Faculty of Economics in Skopje.
In my opinion eradicating the extreme poverty and hunger is one of the essential problems in the world which must be solved in the near future.
The global organizations such as United Nations (UN), UNICEF, WHO, RED CROSS and much more, are giving a great contribution not just in fighting poverty, but also in promoting the world peace and democracy, international law, human rights law etc. Achieving
The Millennium Development Goals
1. Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger
2. Achieve universal primary education
3. Promote gender equality and empower women
4. Reduce child mortality
5. Improve maternal health
6. Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria, and other diseases
7. Ensure environmental sustainability
8. Develop a global partnership for development
declared by the United Nations member states are one of the best ways in making the world better place for living. I kindly respect the people and organizations who are directing the world in a good direction (path). One of the reasons for studying the Economy science is my determination as a prospective student and future leader to find a possible methods or ways in improving the life standard and raising the economy in my country.
Daily, we see poor hungry children and homeless people on the streets. Do we have ever thought about who provide food for them? Do they know to write their names or read? And many more questions have intrigued me. I have thought about this many times, but also have acted and still helping the helpless children. The way I am caring and supporting the children in my community is simple but very humane. I am daily helping out in providing healthy food for the poor children in my community and it makes me happy. This is the way I feel more valuable and outstanding in serving the community. I know that many young people like me in the world follow my example or will follow it, because the humanity is the main characteristic of the human beings. The impossible is not a state it is just a way of thinking and in order to make a change we should raise human awareness.

My
name is Elena Georgievska. I’ve just finished my secondary
education. I’m going to study technology at university. So far, I
attended many events which raise people’s awareness on important
issues of local, regional, as well as of global concern. For the
time being, I’ve been searching for the problems that the mankind is
facing with and the importance of those problems. By doing that, I
came to the conclusion that ‘child poverty’ is among the biggest
problems thorough the world. Furthermore, I formed a team of four
students, all of which agreed to work on this problem for the
educational purposes of the web site we created for the Doors to
Diplomacy competition, sponsored by US State Department & Global
school net. I’m proud of our success as a winner of the Doors to
Diplomacy competition 2006, because we emphasized the importance of
fighting poverty and to organizing campaigns, in order to reduce it.
We successfully completed our project, but there is still a lot to
be done for the problem of poverty. Yes. We promoted the
importance of this problem, we challenged the world leaders, we draw
attention to everyone we know, and we won’t stop doing it. We put
all our hope that the world leaders will find time for the youth and
will find solution for reducing of child poverty. As I always say:
We can’t eradicate child poverty, but we can reduce it. I know
that fight poverty is one of the 15 Millennium goals of the
organization of United Nations that should be realized during the
period 2005-2015. That’s why I’m sending a message to all
governmental and non-governmental organizations to read our message,
to hear our voices and help us make something for improving the
living standard of the poor regions in the world . We are open
for cooperation and give our contribution to the goals of the
organization of UN and for creating a relevant resolution for the
problem. Yet, we are young individuals who would like to see the
world a better place for living. I’m optimist and for the
realistic expectation of seeing the world without facing the problem
of child poverty. Thus, our goals are the following:
-
Raising people’s awareness of the
problem (presenting the negative consequences which come out of
the problem.);
-
Promoting the causes and effects
regarding the problem ;
-
Uniting young people who want to
give their contribution, in order to create a common resolution
(which will be accessible for everybody through the source of
internet, so that everybody interested can give suggestions). In
that way, all the governments in the world can have a look on
this resolution which is a result of the cooperation among young
individuals concerned with the problem.
I’m doing my best for reducing the
problem, and uniting young people for challenging the world leaders
to think more seriously on this problem.
Our motto is:
‘The future
belongs to the youth. We are the youth. And we are the future!’
‘Let’s help
the children who live in poverty!’
‘Let’s start
doing it today, because it might be late tomorrow.’

Millions
of children today have no access to basic services such as clean water, health
care, schools and hospitals. Whether they live in big cities or rural villages,
these children miss out on their childhood. They never have time to grow, learn,
play and feel safe.
Fatima, a
mother who lives in Angolan village had to spend up to four hours each day
collecting water from the river. It was a dangerous trek. One year, seven of
Fatima's friends were attacked by crocodiles. Fatima fears the crocodiles. But
she fears water-borne diseases more. In 1999, the worst happened: Fatima's first
child, Isabel, died after repeated illness with diarrhea.
"A mother must take care of her
children," Fatima says, "but we cannot do
that when we have only dirty water."
(a real life story from
Voices of Youth
website).
Another case of
child poverty is Ibrahim's story. In one Iraq's hospital, nine-month-old
Ibrahim is in a deep sleep. His mother, Wedad, sits beside him fanning his face.
"He is so weak and dry," Wedad says.
"He had 15 bouts of diarrhea last month. I've done
everything I can to help him, but he is still ill."
(Voices
of Youth website)
This cases are
just two of 6 million. Every day children die because of child poverty
and unavailability of their basic rights. What to do? What to do to stop this,
to stop the death of too many children and to destroy the demon of child poverty
which leaves out too many children lives. We are deeply sad of existing of the
child poverty, so we tried to do our best to find a solution for this problem.
Please don't miss to read our
resolutions which we think are the most important part of this site.
We believe that
some of the world's top persons will hear the cry of poor children and give them
a hand... a hand which will save them from demon, which will realize their
dreams and they will sleep with smile at the nights!

Children
Rights
Children have a right to an education and primary education should be required
and free. They have a right to play free and to feel safe. But some children do
not know their rights or mostly they are unavailable for them. Here you will
read the basic children rights.
